Wells Fargo's 7-Year Handcuffs Are Off and The Market Hasn't Noticed

Wells Fargo (WFC) just crushed earnings. EPS was up 25%, profit up 17%. The market shrugged and sold it off, even while every other big bank (Goldman, Morgan Stanley, JPM) partied on record numbers. WFC's down 6% on the year while peers are up 20%+.

Here's what's going on: the Fed finally lifted Wells' asset cap after seven years of handcuffs, and growth numbers are just now starting to show it.

Chart-wise, WFC's been coiling in an $85-$90 range since earnings - tight, low-volatility, the kind of squeeze that usually precedes a move. There's an inverse head-and-shoulders pattern with a neckline around $87.50, plus Bollinger Bands pinching in, as signs a breakout could be building.

Action to take: Watch $85-$87 as the line in the sand. If that holds, we could see a run to $92-$95.
